There are many steel barrier providers on the internet today. Why choose Blockader®?

Consider our reputation, our commitment to quality, our true interlocking connection, our variety, our large inventory, and our prices.

Our Reputation - For over 25 years, we’ve been keeping crowds and events safe. Blockader® barriers have been in continuous use since 1978. Hundreds of customers repeatedly order our barriers every year.

Our Commitment to Quality.
We are continually looking for ways to improve our products, without cutting corners. Every major steel barrier innovation -- bolt-on bases, the high barrier and rubber stoppers to name a few -- has originated with Blockader®. We own our own tooling, design our own modifications, and shift manufacturers when our quality standards or delivery schedules are not met.

Our True Interlocking Connection. The key to smooth crowd management is using the right products. Interlocking steel barriers are the most efficient means of ensuring crowd management and a smooth flow of traffic. The Blockader steel barriers have a unique system that features a true interlock. With the interlocking principle, you can connect two or more frames to form a line in such a way that no single frame can be removed. And, with the three-way interlock hooks, Blockader® introduced in 1998, you can connect three barriers to form right angles and provide more effective line stability as a counter brace.

Our Variety. You can choose from over 250 possible combinations of steel barrier frames, bases and accessories.

Our Large Inventory. The largest inventory of interlocking steel barriers in North America is in the warehouse, ready to ship. Unlike other companies that produce their barriers “on demand,” we continually stock thousands of Blockader® frames, bases and accessories, all ready to ship.

Our Nationwide Rental Program. We have the over 12,000 rental units in the right place at the right time. Blockader® barriers have guided and secured crowds at major events. Our rental program enables us to supply barriers to any event, or to supplement your inventory.

Our Prices. Blockader gives you superior quality at the right price. Our line of barriers ranges from inexpensive frames to high-end frames. We can match the price of any fabricator or on-line re-seller. We offer superior quality at every price level, and we offer the best prices at every level.

250 possible combinations of steel barrier frames! How do I select the barricade that works best for me?

Yes, there are 250 possible combinations but there are only four basic considerations in making a selection:

Length
Height
Hooking System
Bases

Please click on each item to go directly to that particular question for a detailed answer. Or contact us directly.

Any one of our well-trained sales associates can get you the answers you need. We can provide extensive, detailed information on all barriers. We’ll answer your questions so you can select the product best suited to your needs.

Simply call our toll-free number 866-436-1237 any time Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm Eastern Standard Time.

What is the best length?

Blockader® barriers come in three standards lengths:

1 meter (1M) or 39 inches or 3 feet 3 inches
2 meter (2M) or 78” inches or 6 feet 6 inches
2.5 meter (3M) or 97.5” or 8 feet 1.5 inches

The 2 meter barricade is the preferred length. Unlike the longer 2.5 meter, it is easier to handle so that only one person is needed to set up and take down.

You may want to order a combination of lengths. For a 100’ run, you might order 12 of the 2.5M barriers + 1 of the 1M barriers. But, because the hooking system also adds a few inches to each frame, you could order 15 of the 2M barriers.

We can also fabricate any length that you require. Simply call our toll-free number 866-436-1237 any time Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm Eastern Standard Time to discuss your special requirements.

What is the best height?

The standard height is 43” from the ground to the top of the frame. We also offer a 78” high barrier that is 1M wide.

We can also fabricate any height that you require, from 18” to 48” to whatever you need. Please call our toll-free number 866-436-1237 any time Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm Eastern Standard Time to discuss your special requirements.

What is the best base style?

Determine how and where the barriers are going to be used. Each of the bases has its own advantages. The most popular is the traditional Bridge Base. Both it and the newer U Base provide maximum stability on uneven ground. The Flat Base is ideal for situations where crowds will be walking parallel to the barriers. If the barrier is going to be moved often, a Wheel Base on one end makes it easier to move.

What is the best hooking system?

The Classic Blockader® has male hooks that are approximately 15” apart. The Wide Hook is exactly as it applies; the hooks are farther apart, approximately 25”. The Classic Hook will not work with a Wide Hook frame, nor will the Wide Hook work with the Classic Hook frame. The Bent Hand Style is another concept entirely.

If you are buying new stock, the hooking system is your choice. If you are adding barriers to your current stock, you probably want to purchase frames that are compatible.

Call our toll-free number 866-436-1237 any time Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm Eastern Standard Time to discuss your needs.

I am adding barriers to my current stock? Will the Classic Blockader® connect to mine?

It depends on the barriers you have. You need to consider where the hooks and receivers are located on the rail, how far the lower hook is from the ground, where the upper hook is in relation to the bend of the frame, and how far apart they are spaced.

Also, there is a definite correlation between the diameter of the male hook and the female receiver. If the female receiver is too small, it won’t allow for the connection. On the other hand, if it’s too large, the hook will lift out. This correlation explains why so many of the “orphans” on the market cannot connect correctly, even when they are in the same relative position from the ground.

Please beware: All copies of our barriers that have appeared in the last six years do not connect with the traditional styles, even if they are 15 inches or 25 inches apart.

How long will it take to receive my order?

All standard barriers, and many non-standard sizes, are in stock. If your order is received within our regular business hours, it will be processed within 2 hours after receipt. A Sales Associate will review your order, and contact you if any additional information is needed. Otherwise, your barriers can ship within 72 hours after your order is processed.

If you are ordering a custom barrier, we can give you an estimate shipping date. Barriers that are to be painted also have a longer delivery time by approximately two weeks.

Delivery time depends on how your order is being shipped. How your order is shipped depends on the size and weight; barriers and large orders of bases will ship by truck. Smaller base orders can go by a small package delivery service. Delivery time also depends on the shipping destination. All barriers ship from California. A delivery to New Jersey, for instance, will take longer than a delivery to Texas.

If time is critical, please let us know before you place an order. All shipments can be expedited at an additional fee.
